Secrets

Four year olds are not very good at keeping secrets.  Alistair has been singing Frosty the Snowman the past couple of days, so I asked him if he was practicing for the the holiday concert at school.

"Yes.  It's a secret."
"You don't need to tell me what songs you're going to sing."
"It's a secret.  Shhhh.  It's a secret."
"Well, don't tell me."
"It's a secret.  It's a surprise."
"Don't tell me."
"It's a glass that you put a candle.  You color on it.  It's a secret."

Alistair wouldn't make a very good international spy.  While Grandpa was upstairs working a bit on Alistair's room, Alistair and Charlotte made him some birthday cards.  Then I hid them.  Later, Grandpa came downstairs to get something out of the baseement.  As soon as he entered the room, Alistair said, "Maybe there are cards that are a secret."  Thankfully Grandpa didn't hear him.
