Father's Day at Disney World

We had such a great time last year at Disney World with John and Gail and the girls that when Colin had a conference in Orlando scheduled for mid June, we decided to join him and go to Disney World again. (Thank you John and Gail for creating Disney fans. :)  )

Since our visit last summer, most of the new Fantasyland has been opened.  (The main attraction that is not ready is the Seven Dwarf mine ride.)  We headed straight for the new Fantasyland and Ariel's Under the Sea ride.  Charlotte was scared and clung to me and we rode the little clamshell through scenes from the movie.  When we got off she was so excited and said she wanted to ride it again.  After the ride, we met Ariel in her grotto.

We went to see Mickey's Philharmonic and then went on the Winnie-the-Pooh ride before having lunch at the new Beauty and the Beast themed restaurant.  There are three magical themed rooms from the Beast's castle you can eat in.  We had Father's Day lunch in a room that looked like the ball room.

After lunch, we continued with the Beauty and the Beast theme.  We went to storytime with Belle, where the guests told the story to Belle.  Colin was recruited as a knight in shining armour.  He held a helmet prop and did a lot of marching.  Charlotte was excited to see Bell and kept saying "Bonjour!" (She calls Belle 'Bonjour.')

We then headed to the new circus area of Fantasyland where the Dumbo ride is.  While waiting for our Dumbo fast pass time, Alistair and I met The Great Goofini and The Astounding Donaldo (snake charmer) while Charlotte napped.  She woke up just in time for the Dumbo ride.  After riding Dumbo, Alistair and Colin went on the teacup ride and then we all went to drive the race cars.  Surprisingly Charlotte was tall enough to ride in the race car.  She couldn't see over the dash.  Alistair was in his element as you can tell by the smile on his face.

As we headed out, we stopped on Main Street to meet Mickey Mouse.  Charlotte was scared at first, but eventually warmed up to him.

After meeting Mickey, we met Aurora and Rapunzel.  The kids were hysterical.  Alistair was telling Aurora all about our day and Charlotte was copying everything she did.  Aurora was cracking up.  They were the same with Rapunzel.  They loved it.

For Father's Day dinner, we enjoyed one of our favorite dinners - stuffed Chicago style pizza from Girodano's.
