Maple Days at McNamara Farms
This morning we went down to McNamara Farm down in Plainfield for their Maple Days. As we were getting out of the car we were greeted by a bald eagle flying overhead into a nearby tree. We sampled donuts and maple syrup as we entered the sugar shack. They had a new, bigger boiler this year, capable of boiling 350 gallons a day. The kids ate a lot of donut nuggets, maple syrup, maple cotton candy, buttermilk pancakes (small bites), maple flavored kettle corn, and maple ice-cream with candied maple syrup sprinkles. And of course there were tractors to ride in, maple tree trunks to tap, and friends to see. Then we went to see the cows that make the milk we drink.
