X Marks the Spot

Our neighbor told me today that their sweet dog Bear Bear is not long for this world. On the way home from the bus, I told Charlotte so that she would be prepared.  Evelyn asked if Bear was going to die.  I replied yes.

Evelyn: On X marks the spot?
Me: (confused look)
Evelyn:  On the cross?
Me: No.
Evelyn: Like Jesus? On the cross?
Me: No.  Probably at the dog hospital.

At least she's paying attention.....
