Tonight we went to the Fairlee Drive in to see Monsters University. We had a picnic dinner before the movie started, and we gave the kids glow sticks to play with. We had been waiting for Monsters University to come to the drive in so that we didn't miss seeing it at the drive in. The drive in might have to close due to high cost of purchasing a digital projector. The studios are going to stop producing 35mm films next summer, which means that the drive-in will have to replace their 50 year old film projector with a new $85,000 digital one (which I'm sure will not last 50 years). They have raised $15,000 from donations since they can not afford to buy a new one. Seasonal drive in theaters just can't recoup the cost.
