Buttermere

The weather was beautiful for our first day in the Lakes.  The kids were very tired after our trip and with jet lag.  We didn't really get out of bed until nearly noon.  We went for a walk around Buttermere.  We didn't make it more than a quarter way around but we had fun.

I gave Alistair my old camera (that one that I bought just before he was born).  It has two little scratches on the lens, so if he breaks it or drops it in the lake, that's okay.  He took this picture below.  The original was a bit crooked, but Photoshop fixed that.

Back at the cottage, we hung out in the lovely gardens while we waited for Grandad, Uncle Malcolm, Lucy and Vivienne.

It was so wonderful to see little Vivienne and Evelyn together.  They look like they could be sisters.

We had dinner around the huge dining room table.  The kids of course were not sleepy at all...

Here's a little video of our day at Buttermere.  The second half was inspired by something Colin said on our drive home on the narrow, winding lanes.
