After a fun half hour of sledding outside, cold noses and Charlotte's naptime brought us inside. Alistair was eating a snowball, so I said he could bring it in and eat it by the door. After a couple of minutes of nibbling, we put the snowball in a large pyrex jug so he could watch it melt. In a quiet and slightly sad voice he said, "I want to keep it for a pet." It was the sweetest thing. I explained to him that he couldn't keep it as a pet because it would melt. I told him that if he ate it, the snowball would be a part of him. He was fine with that and ate some more.
Later, he was playing with the snowball in the jug. There were two little snowballs. Alistair said, "They are having a cuddle. They're married."
