Steven the Beetle

Alistair found a little beetle this afternoon.  It is one of those black and red beetles, the size of a lightning bug.  When I suggested we take him outside, Alistair looked at me with those big brown eyes of his and said he wanted the beetle to be his pet.  We put the beetle in his little bug box, and I gave it some parsley and rosemary to eat.  (What do these bugs eat anyway?)  Alistair wanted to give it a marshmallow   Sure.  Later on, he gave it one of his toys to play with.  He said the beetle was called Steven the Beetle (probably a reference to Steven the walking stick in a Peppa Pig video, not Uncle Steve).  Here is a picture he drew of the beetle, the leaves, and the marshmallow.  He added the cow toy in red.
