Gardening in the Fairy Garden

A woman in our neighborhood has a fairy garden in her front yard.  We used to walk by it every day on our way home from the bus stop.  One night we were taking a walk after dinner, and the kids went to admire the fairy garden houses, little animals, and seashell paths.  Our neighbor was outside and met Alistair and Charlotte.  A week or so later we noticed a small red mailbox in front of the fairy garden.  The mailbox said "Alistair and Charlotte" on the outside.  Inside were two notes, a small bundle of cherry twigs, and a little paper box with small white stones inside.  One note, with a picture of a wizard on the front, we addressed to Alistair.  It said that the fairy queen was going to visit soon and they wanted to make some furniture, and the fairies needed some more cherry twigs like those.  Charlotte's note (with a picture of a fairy on the front) was the same, but in the box were little white stones.

We have been bringing stones and twigs to the fairies.  Last week scissors appeared in the mailbox along with a note asking if they could cut the grass.  They were happy to do so, and the kids wanted to do so again tonight.
