Ever since we moved here, I've been wanting to skate on Lake Morrey. Every winter they plow a large loop where you can skate. It reminds me when I was a kid, and we used to skate on Lake Summerset. One winter, the lake was frozen but there was no snow, so we could skate everywhere.
This winter, a small group of dedicated nordic skaters arranged to have trails plowed on Mascoma Lake. Mascoma Lake is a lot closer than Lake Morrey, so I went early one afternoon to try it.
Once I got past a rough spot by the shore, the trails were great! A bit windy heading back, but still a lot of fun.
