Today we visited the Rock of Ages quarry in Barre, Vermont. It is the world's largest deep hole granite quarry in the world, and the granite is used for memorials, buildings (such as Union Station in Washington DC), and precision instruments. We watched as workers cut a 35 ton block of granite and pull it up with a tall crane (photo below). Impressive.
